The telemarketer keeps his cool while this woman goes INSANE!
A few of her better lines:
“The police are listening!”
“You are a terrorist!”
“You are a rapist!”
“You son of a motherfucker!”
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!”
Great stuff…

After throwing around way too many poster ideas we came up with this, and quickly realized… it’s been done before! But who cares! The idea was to create something that will look good on postcards that we hand out at festivals along with screening times and contact info. And Harrison (pictured) is an insecure security guard who dreams of being a supercop, so the whole shadow/alter ego thing works well for the movie.
Yesterday was a pretty big day for Apple and I’m stupid excited about the direction they’re moving. Everyone predicted updated iPods, so no big deal there, but the sneak peak at the upcoming iTV (codename for now, real name coming later) is an interesting move and something I’ve wanted to do for a while. My computer is upstairs and my TV and sound system are downstairs. If Apple can offer a simple solution that just works I may have a new favorite gadget.
There are already third party boxes that stream content to your TV, and it’s possible to do something like this with an XP Media Center PC and and XBOX360. But none of that matters because Apple can offer seamless iTunes integration, making the process simple, easy and accessible to everyone.
More importantly it ties directly to the new iTunes movie download service and 640×480 rez videos. Previously all video downloaded from iTunes came in at 320×240. Fine for an iPod, but kind of shitty for watching on a TV (or computer monitor). So in the past if I missed an episode of a favorite show, I’d search BitTorrent and download a full rez version for for free, then take that file and burn it to a DVD, then take to DVD and watch it on the TV. I get my show, but it’s a total pain in the ass and it’s a time consuming process. But considering the alternative was paying money for a 320×240 sized version from iTunes, it was worth the hassle.
With full rez videos and a seamless wireless streaming system, it’s worth a few bucks for the ease of use. I won’t have to mess with BitTorrent or worry about the encoding quality. And I won’t have to manually burn everything to a DVD just to watch it on my TV.
Then there are the movies. The idea that I’ll be able to manually rip my DVDs in to an iTunes compatible format (yeah a pain in the ass, but at least I’ll only have to do it once for each movie), and then browse my movies through an iTunes menu on my TV is pretty neat. It also looks like you’ll be able to purchase new movies directly through the iTV interface. That’s cool I guess, but I’m hoping they also offer a rental option. We’ve got Netflix, but it always seems like the movies are in the mail when we want to watch something. So we end up going to McDonald’s to check out the $1.00 movie rentals. If I can cut out the trip to McDonald’s and just browse and rent new releases from my couch, I’ll be in nerd heaven.
The next step of course will be HD movie downloads, which would cut out the need for those expensive Blu-Ray and HD DVD players.
Remember MacGuyver? Of course you do! He was awesome.
Anyways, I watched a shitload of MacGuyver as a kid, so I thought it’d be fun to check out Mac on the DVD, starting with the pilot episode and working my way forward through the series. I have since made it through four episodes, enough to convince me to jump to the end of the series and work backwards. See, those first episodes haven’t aged so well. The pilot was rough, as most are I’m sure, but the three episodes that follow are worse – and nothing like the MacGuyver I grew up loving.
Every episode takes Mac to a foreign country, fighting against white guys in bad Arab makeup (or mustached Asian druglords) and teaming up with kids with poorly dubbed adult voices. And running the video in fast forward for that awesome car chase? Not so awesome. I’m actually really surprised they put these on DVD. The racial stereotypes are some of the worst I’ve ever seen, and it makes the show feel more like something from the 40s than the 80s. Especially when these are supposed to be serious characters.
So either my fond memory of the show is simply nostalgia, or those first few episodes are just crap. I’m not giving up though, so please don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine. I’ve got Season 5 in the queue, and hopefully the later shows will redeem it for me.
On a side note, the theme music sounds a lot like the Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers theme. Weird.
